Vertical scratches detection based on edge detection for old film

Automatic detection of image damaged regions is the key to automatic video image inpainting. Vertical scratches are the common damages in the old film. In this paper, a vertical scratches detection algorithm based on edge detection is proposed. The proposed algorithm first uses the operator which has the largest response to the vertical edge in Sobel operator to detect edges, and then uses canny operator to detect edges further. Third, we detect vertical lines in the image through probabilistic Hough transform. Finally, we obtain the true locations of the vertical lines scratches through morphology and width constraints. Feature extraction is traditionally founded on pattern recognition methods exploiting the basic concepts of convolution and Fourier transform. Three-dimensional object analysis is of particular interest in many research fields. In this context, the most common data representation is boundary mesh, namely, 2D surface embedded in 3D space. We will investigate the problem of 3D edge extraction, that is, salient surface regions characterized by high flexure. Our automatic edge detection method assigns a value, proportional to the local bending of the surface, to the elements of the mesh. Moreover, a proper scanning window, centered on each element, is used to discriminate between smooth zones of the surface and its edges. International audience; In this letter, we address the problem of the influence of neighbor edges and their effect on the edge delocalization while extracting a neighbor contour by a derivative approach. The properties to be fulfilled by the regularization operators to minimize or suppress this side effect are deduced, and the best detectors are pointed out. The study is carried out in 1-D for discrete signal. Computer-aided diagnosis is developed for assessment of allergic rhinitis/rhinoconjunctivitis measuring the relative redness of sclera under application of allergen solution. The patient’s eye images are taken from commercial digital camera. The iris is robustly localized using a gradient-based Hough circle transform. From the center of the pupil, the region of interest within the sclera is extracted using geometric anatomybased a-priori information.
